Mattepainting

Mattepainting
Plane
Overall Expected look of the final piece.

  1. General:

The bright horizon sunset should be casting more light onto the scene and harder shadows. You would see that bright sun on the tops of cars and reflected in camera-left side of the plane.

The matte painting has a bit off inconsistent lighting on the cars and the top right side.
The plane looks very matte, when it should be shinier.

    Compositing:

In general, things are well integrated, but overall it is much too blurry – it is hard to make out the plane and the details.

The matte painting is much to still – a little compositing effects to have the trees moving and add some general dusty atmosphere would help give life to this

I can barely see the particle effects – they should be amped up a bit – or fix the general blurriness problem

Some edge wrap from the highlights in the background would really help integrate the plane

    Tracking and Roto:

Camera track looks good, although the plane gets cut off a bit in the middle. You can use the lattice key deformer to push your camera down faster without loosing the natural motion of the camera.

  2. I like your overall concept and comp, but I find the final image looks a bit too soft and hazy. It seems to lack contrast and its hard to see. Its as if we were looking at it with hazy goggles.

The smoke layer you had is now very hard to see and its way too subtle.

I would have liked to see the plane go further down the road as it stops too soon.
